OUr beliefs

Grace City Church accepts the Bible as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity of statements of faith. While these are our beliefs, we want you to know that you don't have to believe what we believe to belong.

GOD

God is the super-dimensional and eternally self-existent creator of the universe. God is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent. While God is one, He has revealed Himself in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

JESUS

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right. The nine fruits of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) are the by-product of a Spirit-filled life. We are instructed to diligently seek the gifts (I Cor. 12:31, 14:1), but they must be exercised in an orderly way (I Cor. 14:26-33) in the context of love (I Cor. 13:1-13).The Christian seeks to live through the Holy Spirit on a daily basis.

THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Word to all men. It was written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.

HUMANITY

Humanity is made in the image of God. Although God designed us to have fellowship with Him, we became alienated from God through choices of man kinds free will. As a result, all human beings are born with a sinful nature and choose to sin. Since God is holy, perfect, and without sin, relationship with Him is impossible through man’s own own efforts.

ETERNITY

You were created to exist forever. We believe forever is spent in one of two places: eternally separated from God because of sin or in union with God because of His forgiveness and salvation. Hell is separation from God. To be in heaven is to be present with God eternally.

SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift to you if you accept it. This gift was given to everyone through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We can never make up for our sin with self-improvement or good works. It is only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness that you can be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment you receive Jesus Christ into your life by faith.

ETERNAL SECURITY

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by faith in the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and eternal power of God that gives this security.
